Just north of the Houston city limit there are some very exciting areas. First, there is an area known as “1960” which is named for the major thoroughfare (FM 1960) running through it, also known as Cypress Creek Parkway. Most residences and businesses in the 1960 Area are actually not in a city at all—they are in unincorporated Harris County. This can be confusing, because the Postal Service still gives them Houston addresses. The 1960 Area offers both older and newer homes with something for almost every budget. The area offers convenient access to shopping, entertainment, and major freeways.
Just north of the 1960 Area is the City of Spring where Harris County has its northern border. Moving further north, there is The Woodlands where the new ExxonMobil campus is located. Finally, just north of The Woodlands is Conroe, the county seat of Montgomery County.
Interstate 45 is the major traffic artery for this area, with major roads such as FM 1960, Louetta Road, FM 2920, and many others taking drivers to destinations in Spring and The Woodlands. From Conroe it continues north toward Dallas, and from the northern suburbs it goes southward toward Downtown and then Galveston. Residents in the North of Houston area have convenient access to George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
